June 8, 2025, was Pentecost—the Feast of the Descent of the Holy Spirit. On this day, the disciples received the Holy Spirit, overcame their fear, and boldly preached the Word of the Lord Jesus Christ. As a result of their preaching, three thousand people accepted Christ Jesus as their Savior in a single day. Since then, Pentecost has been celebrated as the birthday of the global Church.
In all the parishes of the Bollovepur Deanery, this occasion is marked by cutting cakes and sharing sweets in celebration of the Church’s birthday. On Pentecost, Bishop Hemen Halder of the Kushtia Diocese led the Holy Communion service and preached the Word of God at Nittyanandapur St. Thomas Church. Following the worship, a day-long seminar was held for elderly mothers and fathers.
Additionally, Pentecost is observed as a Harvest Festival in all parishes of the Bollovepur Deanery, with thanksgiving offerings made during Sunday services.
