New Churches in Khagrachhari

There are 9 new churches in the mountainous district of Khagrachhari in Bangladesh, The members are all indigenous, such as Marma, Chakma, and Tripura indigenous people. The new churches are located in a hilly area, so transportation is very difficult and risky. Development opportunities and facilities are not easily accessible. The indigenous people here are very backward in education, hygiene, and economics. Church of Bangladesh is running primary schools in several new churches. Education, healthcare, and clean water supply are very important. Recently, two priests have been appointed for the continuous care of the new Churches of the indigenous people in Khagrachhari by the Church of Bangladesh. They are Reverend Ripon Roy and Reverend Ajoy Ritchil. In addition, several catechists from this area are also providing impeccable care to these new Churches. Regular worship, religious festivals, Sunday school, women’s programs, and youth programs are conducted in each Churches.


It should be noted that the Church of Bangladesh has been working on evangelism and the economic development of the indigenous brothers and sisters in the Khagrachhari hill district for nearly 15 years. Prayer is needed for the care of the new Churches in Khagrachhari.
