The 100th anniversary of St. John’s Church, Kushtia is celebrated on Sunday, February 27, 2022 AD. In the beginning of the event, the bishop prayed at the old church of St. John’s and explained the significance of the day. The Lord’s Supper was conducted by the Rt. Revd Bishop Halder and the Priests assisted him. In his sermon, the bishop gave a brief history of St. John’s Church and the present St. John’s Cathedral. He said that St. John’s Church got off to a good start on January 6, 1922 with the Renwick Company. At that time this church was established mainly for the British officers and the people of the company. The church was later led by some local people who accepted Christ and with members who came to work in the school. After the worship, 100 years are celebrated in memory. Bishop Halder’s wife Mrs. Jessica Suporna Halder discussed the importance of the day. The Diocese Secretary Rev Daniel Mondol delivered his greetings, giving a brief history of the church and recalling the glorious days of the church and the mission school run by the church. He also remembers the people who have worked in this school. The new church, St. John’s Cathedral, was established in 1991 when Kushtia later became the Diocese. Moreover, Mr. Joseph Mondal, Mr. Shyamal Mondol and Mrs. Swapna Mondol shared some of their memories.
