Three visitors Ms. Naomi Herbert, Director of International Programmes, Mrs. Fran Mate, International Programme Manager and Mrs. Carrie Myers, Volunteering Manager from United Society (Us), UK, formerly known as USPG came to the Church of Bangladesh to visit the Community Health and Hygiene Projects of CBSDP and activities of Bollovpur hospital during 24th May-1st June 2014.

The team visited Rana Plaza site at Savar and met with many of the victims of the collapsed factory . They heard their stories and tried to understand their sorrows and pain of not having their human rights upheld. The victims were happy to be able to share their lives with them and have hope they can build better lives in the future.
The St Andrew’s Theological College Opening Service was held on July 6, 2014 at St Thomas Cathedral Church, Sadarghat with the Holy Communion service. Rt Rev Paul S Sarker officiated and also preached at the service. supporting his sermon according to the Gospel St. Matthew 5:27-30, 33-37 the Bishop elaborated on the theme ‘The source of truth and purity is in the heart.’ During the service, the staff and students also committed themselves afresh by saying a prayer of dedication together.
On 25th to 27th 2014, Hymn Practice and workshop held at Retreat cum Conference Centre at Savar. Participants were from all over the Bangladesh, they were total 32. The theme of the workshop was “ Sing in His name, because that is worthy…” Ps. 135:3. Rev. Shourabh Pholia delivered his speech on the theme and he said that hymn is the life of worship. Through hymns we praise, we thank, we pray, we adore, we ask forgiveness and so on. Hymn helps us to realize God, helps us to be united with Him, helps us to have reconciliation with Him, it helps us to feel Him in us. Therefore hymns are very important in Christian life, which we should sing with proper tune, rhythm and time.

Archbishop of Canterbury His Grace Justin Welby visited Church of Bangladesh from 29 to 31 May, 2014. He was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Caroline Welby and Canon David Porter.

First Day
The Moderator Bishop Paul S. Sarker spent Holy week in Ballovepur Deanery of the Kushtia Diocese. He preached and consecrated the Lord’s Supper at Emmanuel Church Ballovepur in the evening worship of Maundy Thursday.
On Holy Friday he attended the noon service at St. Thomas church of Nityanandapur and took part in the meditation on the seven words of Jesus from the cross. The Church was crowded despite very warm temperatures of 40+c in this middle of the day.
Holy Saturday morning he visited Ballovepur Hospital with Sister Gillian, Bollovepur Girls Hostel and then Bhabarpar Church. In the afternoon he spent visiting a couple of elderly and sick people at Ballovepur village. Rev. Billium Sarder accompanied him throughout the day. Easter Eve he also preached at the Candle worship at Emmanuel Church Ballovepur.

An interim partner consultation meeting of CBSDP took place on 3rd April 2014 in central office Dhaka. The participants were a representation of the partners who are based in Dhaka. The meeting was called by the Chairman of CBSDP Bishop Paul S Sarker to discuss some urgent issues including the forthcoming partner consultation and to update the partners on phase two of the organisation development process.
A celebration took place at Haluaghat on 28th March 2014 to celebrate the centenary of the St. Mary’s Sisterhood. The day was initiated by a morning Holy Communion Service with the Revd Albert Walter principal of St. Andrew’s College delivering the sermon in the service.
Along with others the Moderator Bishop Paul S Sarker and State Minister, Ministry of Social Welfare of Bangladesh Government were present in the occasion. To mark the day a ‘Centenary Souvenir’ was published.
