The Lent 2022

‘When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.’ -Matthew 9:36, 37

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Lent brings us opportunities for self-purification in life. In this world of intemperance, we always have to go through various temptations and needs. So we become confused and corrupt. We need purification or self-purification to get rid of this confusion and bad practice. Every year during the fasting period, through self-control or austerity, we take the opportunity to become a worthy child of God once again. Every religion has such opportunities. Every year we give some money collected through austerities for various service purposes. We are grateful for your generosity in the past years. I would like to politely inform you about where and how to use this gift of sacrifice this year:

Dhaka Diocese: We also have five new tribal congregations in Khagrachari. There are plans to conduct mission work by purchasing a small space on the outskirts of the city. There are plans to open hostels for 20 boys and 20 girls step by steps. From there, boys and girls of ethnic minorities will be able to attend nearby primary schools, high schools and colleges, and our church will expand and prosper day by day.

Kushtia Diocese: A few years ago, a new church was formed at Koyelhat Rajshahi Deanery of Kushtia Diocese. Recently a new church and boundary wall was erected there. But there is no house for the Catechist in the parish. Donations from the Kushtia Diocese will be used to build a catechist house at Koyelhat.

Barishal Diocese: There has been a congregation at Fullergati-Sundali, under Nawapara- Jessore in Barisal Diocese. There are 75 new Christian families under the Church of Bangladesh. The church must have a small house for the Catechist. Therefore, I hope that this year’s donation from Barishal Diocese will be used to build a house for Catechist. Therefore, we request you to send your personal donation / money directly to the respective Diocese Accounts or Synod Accounts Department accordingly.
