Church of Bangladesh, with great joy and happiness announce that Revd Hemen Halder has been elected as the new Bishop for Kustia Diocese in last 30 November 2018. After his consecration as Bishop at the end of January, he is expected to take his new assignment sometime end of February 2019.
Revd Halder was born on 9 March 1973 in one of the southern towns in Bangladesh, along sea coast line, with huge salinity. Educated in Church run schools and earned his Bachelor degree. Later attended Bishops’ College in Kolkata and completed his Bachelor of Divinity (B.D). During 2008-‘09, he was at Malaysia and did his MTh in Missiology. Ordained as a Deacon in 1997 and later a priest in 1999. Served as priest in different parishes of Church of Bangladesh and lectured at St Andrew’s’ Theological College where he also served as Dean of Studies.
Blessed with a wife and two daughters – Jenith and Jenea and a son Joshua. Wrote a number of books on Christianity.
A two-day long consultation of Church of Bangladesh took place from 31 May – 1 June, 2013 at Savar Conference Center of COB. The Theme of the consultation was “Education for enriching the life”, and Principal Rina Das, Martin Luther College, Dhaka spoke on the Theme. A total of 20 teachers from major schools of COB attended the consultation. Moderator of COB, Bishop Paul S Sarker and the Synod Education Coordinator Mrs. Janet Sarker were present the total period of the consultation.
