On September 5, 2025, a day-long training and workshop on human trafficking prevention was held in the Rajshahi Deanery. The event began with opening remarks by Mr. Prodip Mondal, CEO of Mission Hospital Rajshahi, along with Mr. Marcus Murmu, Ms. Minoti Biswas, and respected teachers from Mission School. They shared insights into the harsh realities of human trafficking, highlighting poverty, illiteracy, ignorance, and a lack of moral values as its main root causes.
A special session was conducted by Bishop Hemen Halder, Bishop of Kushtia Diocese, who addressed the serious issue of human trafficking. He emphasized that women and children—particularly from rural areas—are the most vulnerable, often falling prey to traffickers through false promises and temptations. He reminded the audience that human trafficking is not a new issue; it has existed since ancient times.
Drawing references from the Bible, Bishop Halder explained that even Scripture contains accounts of trafficking: the first temptation of humanity was shown to Adam by Satan; Joseph was sold by his brothers; and Naaman’s maidservant was also a victim of trafficking. These stories illustrate how exploitation has existed throughout history.
