Centennial Anniversary Celebration held for St. Thomas Church in Edilpur

On 12 March 2016, Bishop Paul S. Sarker planted a sapling on the premises of St. Thomas Church in Edilpur to commemorate the occasion of 100 years of this church establishment in this village. Afterwards, Bishop Sarker and the elders visited the grave of Father Ganendra Marak and lit a candle to honour his contribution to the churches in the deanery. There was a procession to a large tent installed especially for this occasion to make room for the additional worshipers in the village. Colorful festoons, banners, songs and voices set the mood for the celebration, and traditional cultural presentations were arranged for the attendants, with the youth participating enthusiastically. Bishop Sarker also provided a crest of honour to the religious and community leaders for their heartfelt contribution for the churches of Haluaghat Deanery.
